"This is all very listenable, pleasant, chummy music that demands little and rewards much if one is in the mood for it. it is jazz-littered, as one would expect from this source, but it's not too much. After so many years, Baker has developed a natural, comfortable style that mixes classical structures with jazz elements....James Campbell (is) truly one of the most versatile and flamboyant players on the American scene. Baker has written a lot for him, and no wonder, as Campbell—proved in spades by the recording—has a lot to offer. Cala recorded these at IU and has supplied wondrous sonics. If this sort of blended style is your cup of tea, drink up!"
American Record Guide, May/June 2003

An outstanding collection of new jazz and classical chamber music works for the clarinet composed by one of the most successful jazz/classical crossover composers, conductors and educators in the world.

David Baker has written over 2,000 works, ranging from jazz to classical sonatas and film scores. He has served as conductor and musical director of the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and is Chairman of the Jazz Department at Indiana University. Nominated both for a Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy, he was the third inductee of the Jazz Education Hall of Fame and has been President of the National Jazz Service Organization.
